Warnemunde, Day 1

I've finally got internet again in Antwerp, Belgium, so I'm making a quick blog post.
Warnemunde is outside the port city of Rosctock, Germany and is really a tourist town.  The big ships stop here, and it is charming.
One of the highlights was a lighthouse.  Nancy climbed to the top, but I saved my energy for the next
day's bike ride
These are some of the Resident Directors clowning as we came back to the ship on the first day.

The students love to mark their trip with signs of where they were.
The cormorants greeted us.  We've seen a lot of new birds, but some familiar ones like black capped chickadees.
These were the views as we entered town.  Below was the view from the ship as we docked.  The train was regular and very convenient for those who wanted to visit other places.
Another view below of the canal in town.  This is as picturesque  as it gets

We were lucky to have our visit coincide with the bloom of the jellyfish who feed on the fire coral.  These were fascinating creatures.  I think this was a moon jellyfish, and Nancy took millions of pictures of them--they all looked different like snow flakes.

This town was right on the beach, so I dipped my toes in to say that I had been swimming in the Baltic.

One of the highlights was a lighthouse.  Nancy climbed to the top, but I saved my energy for the next
day's bike ride

Back on the ship, the German flag was flying.  Many of us have the voyage tee-shirt which unfortunately has the German flag upside down.  Needless to say, I didn't wear it while I was in Germany.
Lots of kite flying off the beach.  Kelly Johnston would have loved this.
